The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacked the national selection committee of Team India on Friday (November 18), which comprised Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh, Debasis Mohanty, and Chetan Sharma (chairman). The selection panel has been operative for the last two years. During their tenure, they have made a few significant and controversial decisions, like removing Virat Kohli from the captaincy.
Recently, India crashed out of the T20 World Cup in Australia after losing to England in the semi-final at the Adelaide Oval by 10 wickets.
India topped their Super 12 points table after beating Pakistan, the Netherlands, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, but failed to carry the momentum into the semis.
The BCCI has invited applications for the posts of national selectors and the deadline to apply is November 28, 2022. Five positions are open and the board has also set quite a few criteria for the applicants.
The fans, in the meantime, were happy after Sharma was sacked. They reminded him about Virat Kohli’s sacking as the ODI skipper a year ago.
